Zhejiang Introduces Implementation Plan for Carbon Peak in the Industrial Sector
In order to effectively carry out the carbon peak work in the industrial field, the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology, the Development and Reform Commission, and the Department of Ecology and Environment recently jointly issued and implemented the "Implementation Plan for Carbon Peak in the Industrial Field of Zhejiang Province".
The Implementation Plan proposes that during the 14th Five Year Plan period, positive progress has been made in optimizing the industrial structure and energy consumption structure of the province, significantly improving the efficiency of energy resource utilization, developing, demonstrating, and promoting a batch of low-carbon, zero carbon, and negative carbon technology equipment products with significant emission reduction effects, organizing the implementation of energy-saving and carbon reduction technology transformation, and laying a solid foundation for carbon peaking in the industrial field. By 2025, the energy consumption per unit of industrial added value above the designated scale will decrease by more than 16% compared to 2020, striving to reduce by 18%; A reduction of over 20% in carbon dioxide emissions per unit of industrial added value (excluding national separate projects); The proportion of production capacity in key areas reaching the energy efficiency benchmark level reaches 50%; Build 500 green and low-carbon factories and 50 green and low-carbon industrial parks.
The Implementation Plan also proposes that during the "15th Five Year Plan" period, the industrial structure layout will be further optimized, and the intensity of industrial energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions will continue to decrease. Efforts will be made to achieve peak carbon reduction, strengthen carbon neutrality capabilities on the basis of achieving peak carbon in the industrial field, and basically establish a modern industrial system characterized by high efficiency, green, recycling, and low-carbon. Ensure that carbon dioxide emissions in the industrial sector reach their peak before 2030.
